Safety and Security Policies
The Art Theater is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for its patrons and employees. In response to the tragic acts of violence that have taken place in theaters across the country recently, the Theater has established proactive policies to aid in the protection of our the entire Art Theater community.
Proactive Security Procedures
- Patrons wearing face-covering masks, hoods, hats, or material of any kind will not be allowed into the Theater until the covering is removed. Staff is required to ask the patron to remove the covering, and hold it behind the Concessions counter until the film the patron has come to see has ended and they are leaving the building. Religious coverings are exempt from this regulation.
- The Illinois Firearm Concealed Carry Act (430 ILCS 66/1, et. seq.) of 2013 allows licensed individuals to carry concealed firearms. Pursuant to HB183, Section 65 of the Act the Theater has posted signs stating that the building is a firearm-prohibited area. The signs posted are in accordance with the standardized signage rules provided by the Illinois State Police.
- No fake weapons of any kind will be permitted in the Theater building.
- Any patron brining a bag that is book bag size or larger will be required to submit the bag to a search by staff before being permitted into the Theater.
